Auto Bailout

With the Auto bailout falling apart, here are a few things I think people should consider when they talk about the issue.
  1. We were willing to give all those billions to Wall street to people who had defrauded the country and donated to a lot of Republicans.
  2. Many of these same Republicans who were for the bailout of Wall street say that we can't bailout the Auto industry because we need to let the market take its course.  Well, I think that in a free market, shouldn't we have let Wall Street collapse?
  3. The auto industry failing will lead to a loss of 3 million jobs.

Huge Grassroots effort Brings Obama victory

Just recieved an email from the Obama campaign about the number of calls that where made in NY and it is amazing just how well we did. Here are the numbers. On Election day, NY made 1,053,791 to swing states to get out the vote. If you add this to the College Democrats numbers it looks even better for NY. Here are the numbers again:
-registered 11,000 college students to vote in NY -knocked on 126,750 doors for Obama in battlground states -Organized 572 students to go from NY to the battleground states PA, NH, VA -Organized 120 students to work on NYS Senate races and U.S.

GOTV effort Worked!

Looking at the exit data in comparison to the 2004 election here is one thing that we saw. The numbers showed that 8% more people nationally where contacted by the Obama campaign then the McCain campaign. Nationally, Obama won by 7%. After our great effort, we where able to represent the margin of victory in the election.

Emanuel Accepts Chief Of Staff Post

The Politico is reporting that Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) has accepted the offer to be President Obama's chief of staff. This is the first job that the new Obama administration has filled. Here's what Politico had to say:
"The appointment was the first Obama offered after his election, and Emanuel pondered the opportunity for about 24 hours. Friends said Emanuel accepted the job because he thought it was important to serve this historic administration despite the potential strain on his wife, Amy Rule, and their three children, who live in the Chicago area. "

New Voter Turnout Record

As all of the ballots are being counted and the numbers are looked at, the NY Board of Elections is saying that this might be the biggest voter turnout ever in NY.

Collge Dems help Kanjorski win seat in PA

With the great GOTV efforts of the College Democrats of NY in Scranton PA, Congressman Kanjorski has held onto his seat. He was running against the Mayor of Hazelton PA, Lou Barletta. Lou as his signs refer to him as, is a raging racist who is famous for his defense of a group of high schoolers who murdered a Latino. With this win we where able to prevent another bad Republican from having his voice heard on the national scene.
