Vassar Democrats invade New Jersey

This weekend, ten Vassar Democrats ventured over to New Jersey to knock on doors, make calls, and get the word out for the Victory 2009 campaign, Corzine for Governor. We dispersed into the neighborhoods to make it known why we support the Governor, then joined the Governor at the NJ Italian-American Festival, where we strove to see that every person there wore a Corzine sticker before the day's end. The most frequently asked question we were asked was: Why should you care when you're not even from New Jersey?

College Democrats Of NY Endorse Gillibrand

The College Democrats of New York today formally endorsed Kirsten Gillibrand’s campaign for U.S. Senate – touting her vision to create opportunity for all of New York’s students by making college affordable, and arming them with the resources they need to compete and succeed in the 21st century economy.

CDNY Continues to Back Democratic State Senate Majority

The College Democrats of New York are shocked by the backroom dealings that resulted in today’s events on the floor of the New York State Senate. We are deeply troubled that partisan politics may get in the way of crucial legislation and balancing the budget. We urge the State Senate to put partisanship aside and continue to work for their constituents, New Yorkers, and resolve this matter honestly and fairly. No matter what the outcome, we are going to continue to fight for more and better Democratic State Senators in 2010.

CDNY is Ready for a Campaign toTurn NY-23 Blue!

The College Democrats would like to congratulate President Obama on continuing his campaign pledge to govern in a bipartisan manner by nominating Republican Congressman John McHugh to become the next Secretary of the Army. “This move shows the President’s dedication to naming the best qualified individual’s to initiate his agenda, regardless of party membership,” said Ian Rivera, President of the College Democrats of New York, “I believe that Congressman McHugh will make an outstanding Secretary of the Army, considering his experience on the House Armed Services Committee, and I am grateful for his service to the men and woman in uniform and their families at Fort Drum and look forward to his tenure as Secretary of the Army ensuring our men and women in uniform have everything they need to carry out the President’s Defense Agenda.”

CDNY Response to Liberty University

The College Democrats of New York are deeply disappointed with Liberty University’s decision to ban the Liberty University chapter of College Democrats from campus. This attempt to stifle alternate opinions is fundamentally opposed to the spirit of free speech necessary for higher education and the health of America’s democracy. We hope that Liberty University reverses its decision and incorporates the College Democrats into an environment of academic freedom and tolerance that furthers the University’s mission of educating America’s future leaders.
