CDNY's 2013 In Review

2013 was a great year for Democrats around the country, with historic electoral victories in Virginia as well as right here in New York. Here's a recap of what the College Democrats of New York were up to this year.

Yeshiva University College Democrats Hear From Wendy Davis

On Tuesday, December 10th, Texas State Senator Wendy R. Davis was welcomed by some of New York’s finest movers and shakers at a contemporary loft gallery in SoHo. At this small cocktail reception Ms. Davis spoke about her race for Governor, what she envisions for the deeply red state of Texas and how her grassroots campaign seeks to turn this key state blue in the near future.

CDNY Post-Election Party

Join us to celebrate Democratic success in 2013!

After months of working hard to elect New York City's first Democratic mayor in over two decades, to elect a historic slate of women mayors upstate, or just to turn your area bluer, take some time off to celebrate with half-price drinks(!) and some special guests.

The party will be at McFadden's Bar, located at 800 2nd Avenue in Manhattan, from 7-9PM on Thursday, November 21.

Nassau County Executive Candidates Face Off

On Tuesday, Nassau County Executive candidates Tom Suozzi and Ed Mangano met for a debate in an effort to define their campaigns and win over voters in the final week before Election Day. Given that the race has become a national focal point, with Suozzi drawing endorsements from Governor Andrew Cuomo and former President Bill Clinton last week, Tuesday's debate was heavily anticipated. CDNY Membership Director and Stony Brook chapter member Ben Lavender was in the audience and wrote an account of the event:

Vassar Dem Seth Warner Makes A Bid For Dutchess County Legislator

21-year-old Seth Warner, a political science major at Vassar and former VP for Off-Campus Activities for the Vassar College Democrats, has spent his summer and much of the fall semester running a competitive campaign for a seat on the Dutchess County Legislature. Along the way, Warner has picked up the nominations of the Democratic, Green, and Working Families parties, as well as endorsements from the Dutchess County Central Labor Council and SEIU Local 200United. With less than a week left until Election Day, Warner took the time to answer a few questions about his campaign.
