CDNY Goes to Bat for Governor Corzine
Led two-day canvassing efforts in crucial New Jersey suburbs
NEW YORK – This weekend, College Democrats of New York (CDNY) turned its attention to a neighboring state’s gubernatorial race, to assist New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine. CDNY took New Jersey by storm on Saturday and Sunday to lead large canvassing efforts in critical suburban areas.
“This is an extremely important election not just for New Jersey, but nationally, and CDNY was excited to help the Corzine-Weinberg ticket secure a victory,” said CDNY President Ian Rivera, who led the group’s efforts in New Jersey.
"The New Jersey race is shaping up to be a referendum on the national Democratic agenda. Helping Governor Corzine win re-election will send a strong signal that momentum from last year’s elections is not lost and there remains widespread support for Democratic priorities like healthcare reform, job creation, education and improving the environment.," concluded President Rivera. “These issues are simply too important for anyone to sit on the sidelines.”
Fifty students will spend two full days knocking on doors and phone banking, reaching thousands of critical swing voters just over two weeks prior to the election.
